Craft Supplies

Craft supplies commonly differ from art supplies, though not necessarily. Some fine artists may enjoy the challenge of working with lesser quality materials. Others may feel that it fits with whatever statement they are trying to make.

Though the term “crafty” can be used derogatorily in a fine art setting, craft supplies are not always of a lower quality. This is especially true when the craft being discussed is something such as needlework or woodworking. There are different levels of aesthetics involved in the world of crafts just as there is in the world of arts.

For some, craft supplies can serve as an introduction to fine art material. They can be especially useful toward encouraging creativity in younger minds. It may be easier to find nontoxic craft materials with which children can experiment.
